Yes Mike should be added, but I'll still go with Kobe, Throwing Shaq under the bus and still cheating after the purple diamond and crying at the table puts you in the Tiger Hall of fame. Tiger is in the lifetime Herb elite section.

Perfectly said Holip...Ashley, "If you can't braid it, might as well fade it" lol... seriously though ash... you got a problem homegirl.

" i couldn’t go swimming with all my nonblack friends, or i had to be extra careful not to sweat because my hair would revert back to nappy, unmanageable, painful, unattractive hair. i couldn’t wear my hair natural because all the BLACK kids would make fun of me and taunt me. i have been made fun of for it for my ENTIRE life and i hate myself for it"

Keywords/phrases: nonblack friends (?), unattractive (by who's standards?), ...and I hate myself for it (self hatred is a mutha f'er)
I am not so eloquent as my brotha Mr. Holipsism but you don't understand nor embrace your hair because you don't understand nor embrace yourself. I don't know how you are styling your hair but if you are perming, you are doing more harm to your hair than good. Maybe you should seek some knowledge on natural hair care and stop treating your mane like a red headed step child and take care of it. If you love it, it will love u! Or, you could just continue to hate yourself...GOOD LUCK!

Holipsism's reply is perfect. There is no need to comb your hair, wear weaves and wigs, or perm, if you understand that your hair was not meant to be styled, worn, or appear like that. Believe me when I say you are not alone. From South America to my parents African country of Nigeria, the women not only do not know how to manage their own hair, they don't attempt to. I see the women in my church wear weaves and wigs that do not fit their natural looks, and they go as far to bleach their own skin to appear more fair. You must love yourself first. Like Holipsism above said, you can do all activities that other races do as well as men do, so long as you love yourself and build knowledge on your own hair. I suggest you go online and look at pictures of the beautiful women with natural hair. It fits them, it compliments them, and it is a true acceptance of self that gives the impression that they are confident. You can have this, if you let the stereotypes leave your mind. Just look at it this way: why spend hundreds of dollars trying to reach an ideal in which you could never fully participate, when you can be yourself and be more than your hair. A lot of sistas believe that their hair is their glory, no it is not. We all have souls, we all are naturally pure and God centered people. It is what is within you that has the real value. If you learn to live outside the context of white beauty, you can fully reach this. The way that you hate your hair, can have a trickle down effect on your self esteem. One day its I hate my black hair, then its I wish I had hair like Indian or mixed raced women. The next day it is I wish I was another race so I could reach that ideal. We all have done it, I know I have at one point. I am still learning to fully embrace myself as a black man. But since coming to realization of the brainwashing we have undergone, I have found a new love for all my sisters especially those who wear natural hair. Understand how you feel is by design. It is important for all black Africans to keep adhering to western ideals, because the reaction to those ideals yields money for other groups of people. I pray that one day, we can love ourselves.
